TRAILBOARDS for GRATIA
Gratia was built by Camper and Nichoson in 1900 as Bertha. Since 1964 she has been owned by the Svenska Kryssarklubben (Swedish sailing school) based in Göteborg.
The stem of the yacht was severely damaged following a collision with a fishing vessel. The trailboards were carved directly into her stemhead, so following repairs to the stem, a stemhead was prepared for carving, using fragments of the original as a template. This was then fitted to the yacht and working from a dinghy alongside, I completed the carving onto the stem.
