Traditionally ship carvers produced a maquette of the figurehead as a scale model for the final sculpture. Such a model was carved in pine and oak, with all the detail of the completed figure in a scale of 1:10
Two moulds have been taken from this unique maquette to produce a limited edition of 50 castings in resin bronze, to show the port and starboard side of the figure.
This limited edition of castings will soon be offered for sale. Each figure is cast by hand and individually finised, the quality is such that the grain of the wood and chisel marks of the original carving can all be seen.
The figures can be purchased individually or as a matching pair for direct wall mounting, or fixed to a board to provide a wooden back drop to the figure and are available finished in resin bronze or patinated to replicate the colour of the figure on the ship
